Responsible for providing spiritual guidance, counseling and case management to 11 homeless families residing in a Christian emergency shelter.  Develop curriculum for and conduct weekly Life Skills classes.  Provide assistance in linkage with community resources, employment, education and child care.

Senior Volunteer Services, Inc., Senior Companion Program, 4701 NW 33 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Responsible for the development and day-to-day operation of the Senior Companion Program including planning, organizing and implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, placement and supervision of 100 senior volunteers.  Select, train and supervise other program staff.  Develop Memoranda of Understanding and other appropriate documents with community agencies.  Responsible for all aspects of public relations in reference to the Program.  Assess problems relative to volunteers’ well-being, including assisting in case management.  Prepare renewal grant applications and adhere to all operational and reporting requirements of funders.  Of Special Note:  Implemented the RELIEF (Respite for Elders Living In Everyday Families) Program through the Area Agency on Aging and Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

Responsible for all areas of agency operation including recruiting, developing and supervising a staff of 6 and an average of 52 volunteers monthly.  Developed policies and procedures, job descriptions, personnel manual and volunteer manual.  Developed and implemented programs, authored grants and monitored agency compliance with private, local and federal funding requirements.  Encouraged positive public relations through public speaking, special events participation and press releases.  Assisted in annual budget development, strategic planning and statistics gathering and reporting.  Advocated for the homeless population through inter-agency collaboration, public education and development of a conglomeration of preventative and intervention services designed to propel the homeless population and the near homeless towards self sufficiency.  Of Special Note:  Obtained Broward County agency certification, facilitated collaborations with over one dozen community agencies to provide a plethora of on-site services for clients.

Director of Social Services, September 1996 – November 1998
St. Paul Community Mental Health Center, Fort Lauderdale, FL
Provided clinical supervision to 20 counselors and program social worker in psychiatric partial hospitalization program for adult mental health consumers.  Conducted groups with patients on various topics.  Chaired interdisciplinary treatment teams and facilitated discharge planning.  Provided quality assurance assessments and recommendations for the partial hospitalization program as well as for the day treatment program in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid.  Assisted in project and proposal development as necessary.  Of Special Note:  Went door to door to businesses in the Lauderhill community and rallied over 100 mental health consumers and business owners to advocate for the rights of adult mental health consumers in that community.

Supervised 3 Family Workers (Case Managers) and served as a liaison between the camp, the communities and the families.  Provided clinical supervision to 20 on-site counselors.  Assisted in implementation of Managed Care Provider requirements.  Identified community-based resources.  Of Special Note:  Envisioned and organized an Open House for state-wide agency workers, legislative representatives and juvenile judges.

Re-Entry Counselor, August 1989 – October 1995
Eckerd Family Youth Alternatives, Inc., Re-Entry Program, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL
Provided intensive aftercare supervision to serious juvenile offenders by serving as a liaison between the client and community during commitment.  Upon the client’s return to the community, assisted in linking the client with appropriate community resources.  Provided counseling and support to client and family through regular in-home therapy sessions and continuous availability to clients and their families for crisis intervention 24 hours per day, 7 days per  week.  Assisted clients in learning and implementing employability skills.  Attended court hearings and prepared court documents and reports.  Of Special Note:  Developed a lesson plan and trained 300 employees in basic concepts of Reality Therapy.  This position required managing a diverse, multi-cultural client population in areas from South Miami to Coral Springs.
